Christ is All!

(Ephesians 5:9) – “... for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth," A result of living or walking in the Light of the presence of the holiness of God, whereby we are made holy, is that the fruit of the Spirit of Truth is produced in our lives. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Gal. 5:22-23) So what is the difference between goodness and righteousness and truth? Good is defined as being positive or desirable in nature. Righteous is defined as morally upright; just. True is defined as consistent with fact or reality; not false or erroneous. So goodness has to do with the innate nature of a thing; righteousness is the expression of goodness through actions that are morally right or correct; and truth is that which is consistent with reality. The point that Paul is trying to make here is that all three find their source in the person of Jesus Christ, here referred to as the Light. Jesus Christ alone possesses innate goodness in nature that motivates Him to act always in righteousness which is absolute truth, regardless of man’s unbelief in it. Goodness is a state of being, righteousness is a state of acting consistent to that state of being, and truth is the absolute reality that both are found only in Christ.
